Two Teachers from Our School Listed as Elsevier’s 2020 “Highly Cited Chinese Researchers” in Public Administration
On April 22, 2021, Elsevier released the 2020 “Highly Cited Chinese Researchers” list, which utilized the method developed by the Shanghai Ranking Consultancy in order to analyze the performance of Chinese researchers in achievements of scientific research, with Scopus (a global authoritative abstract and citation database) as the statistical source of Chinese researchers’ scientific research achievements. Since its inception in 2015, it has been released six additional times as of 2021 and has received extraordinary attention from numerous media outlets and researchers both at home and abroad.
There were a total of 4,023 highly cited Chinese researchers on the 2020 list, coming from 373 universities, enterprises and scientific research institutions, covering 10 fields and 84 first-level subjects of the Ministry of Education. A specific group of researchers are from 296 universities, and 90 of those researchers from Sun Yat-sen University, which ranks sixth among universities. These researchers included on the list specialize in subjects such as Clinical Medicine, Chemistry, Biology, Basic Medicine, Public Health, and Public Administration.
In the field of Public Administration, there were a total of 20 highly cited Chinese researchers from 10 universities, enterprises and scientific research institutions on the 2020 list. Professor Yue Jinglun and Professor Ye Lin of our school’s Department of Public Administration were on the list. According to the statistics of Scopus, the number of published pieces of English literature by Professor Yue Jinglun amounts to 39, with a citation frequency of 417 and an h index of 13, while same statistical numbers attributed to Professor Ye Lin are 21, 321, and 9 respectively.
